And there are many other sufferings shown form our local TV again and again following the big floods inundated Jakarta one week ago.
Thousands remain stranded in shelters which have sprouted across the city, mostly in the north and west, the worst-hit areas in last week's flood, which left 20 dead and, at its height, displaced 50,000 people.
About 14,300 (as of Wednesday night) remain stuck in 90 such shelters, says the National Disaster Mitigation Agency, and most are refusing to leave for fear of fresh flooding during this rainy season.
The huge floods around the city on January 17, 2013 was terrible, blocking all access to the center of the city and forcing commuters to get back home. I was one of the "disappointed" workers who only found notification from the train station saying that the train had to delay its trip due to the terrible flood in many of train stations heading to my workplace.
Disappointed I might say that I was eager to get downtown anyhow just to videotape some phenomenal view to share to the world. Just like this one happening on December 22, 2012. There are some videos of the like you can find here just to show how terrible the flood was, so stick around on Jakarta Mobile.
