Jakarta needs more trees

This is a small sloping park located across from Sudirman train station in Jakarta. Train commuters who get off and head to Hotel Indonesia traffic circle from the station will surely pass it to get to the overhead street. The park is quiet during work hour and it's not a recreational park during holidays.

I like seeing the the green around here and imagine if there will be more and more of the like around Jakarta. Yes, when you're mobile and get tired of your routine, you can drop by in a park and have a rest for a while.

Unfortunately. green areas in Jakarta are extremely limited. Man think money first rather than preserve nature. The permit for new business buildings have been issued for the sake of the development.
Then when disaster comes, we never learn from this classic mistake. The floods stop you from mobility, grumbles comes up only  as a useless dissatisfaction, but the initiative for improvement usually comes late or almost nothing. Well, have a rest here for a while at this blog and keep up with more updates of candid pictures.

Being mobile in Jakarta in comfort?

Comfort or time?

Welcome to Gondangdia train station, you haven't reached Gambir yet, one of the main station ahead at which you can view Monas up there from the overhead tracks; it's the huge plaza of Indonesia.

It's Jakarta, everyone, and if you are really mobile, I may recommend a free-traffic-jam transport which enables you to go anywhere you like. Be it downtown, uptown or through the greater Jakarta.

Of course, as civilized visitor you prefer taxi, that's it. But taxi won't run against the time. It's only for comfort. If you are busy person, you'll get stressed on the way, trapped in more more congested thoroughfares and your lateness is unexcused. Being mobile in Jakarta means you have to keep up with hustle bustle of the city, right?

See the picture: those are "ojek" drivers. They are hunger for passengers, flocking around the station to suggest you to have a ride with them for money. These motorcycle taxi drivers are part of the urban who are mobile and ready to take you anywhere you like. It's negotiable price to hire one, but in certain condition like terrible floodings you may pay for it more expensive.

Monster in Jakarta's mall?

Jakarta keeps monster. I took this picture quietly for fear if she found out what I did. She might chase me and bite me, don't you think?

The monster served people in a food court at a mall downtown Jakarta and at that time our office had a small party initiated by our owner who is scared of ghosts.

We had already been in our table and were waiting for our boss to come to join us. This monster horribly appeared to take our order.

Then the boss came and she shuddered with horror. She's not alone, it's not midnight, it's around :4:00 after working hour on Saturday, but seemed to be faint-heated.

You think smart know that I'm making up this story. You also know that is a sort of Halloween event and you're right. Jakarta also took the chance that November 2012 and this picture is presented to you to know about Jakarta, especially if you're mobile and like consider Jakarta as one your stopovers.

Happy travelling!

Jakarta downtown flood 22 December 2012

Jakarta flood! Jakarta terrible flood! Dramatic picture in video!

Another video of Jakarta flood, and still with the same story: It's not a new story. But to me what happened on 22 December 2012 around my workplace downtown was such a view. That's the first time in my life I saw what Jakarta downtown is like in terrible flood. However, this video clip taken with my blackberry on 22 December 2012 was less dramatic than what happened the next year. 17th of January, 2013, was the worst flood we have ever had at the beginning of the year. The entire jakarta was hit by the floods, forcing me to get back home as there's no more access for the train to take me to work. The tracks were badly inundated, including the thoroughfares along Sudirman Thamrin, the heart of the city: Hotel Indonesia traffic circle and Presidential Palace.

Jakarta terrible flood 22 December 2012 might not as terrible as what happened in 2007 to those experiencing it themselves. What we hope now a total recovery. We just don't want next there will be a series of another terrible flood happening in Jakarta. Pray for Jakarta

Thamrin Street at night

Jakarta downtown at night. This picture was taken from Thamrin street and I am one of the commuters who likes Michael Learns to Rock's song: I'm an actor, I'm a star and I don't even have my own car. That's just to describe that I am not as lucky as those doing their best and making achievement in Jakarta. Thamrin is one of the famous thoroughfares in Jakarta with the modern section around. The main unsolved problems here is how to make it free from traffic jams. However, what can the authorities do about it? Most of them are part of the urban too, coming to Jakarta and jam the street. Stressful and exhausted, welcome to our routine.

Free space on top of the train

While you prefer to have free air conditioner on top of the train, I will lull you to sleep with a tickling story quoted form my other blog: Mr. Nurman learns tickle your fancy. Once upon the time Katy Perry would like to be on top of the train to tickle you so that you don't get bored. Britney Spears would like to sign a concert contract to sing there on the free catwalk on top of the train and Arnold Schwarzenegger think about beating Rambo Sylvester Stallone to entertain you all guys. But I believe you won't sleep. A high-voltage electricity above your head may make you stay awake, warriors! Whew, more than Rambo or Terminator's guts!

No door, no safety

Look at the notification there above by the train door. There's as if nothing written there as a message of safety as people prefer to hang by the door and even some children like to race to the door as stuntmen while the train starts to move  Okay, while you think this needs improvement I would like to tell you about Jokowi whom by the time I am writing this post, he has been successfully won the second runoff of the gubernatorial election in Jakarta. One of his biggest homework is how to solve problems over public transport. I can only a recommend a silly idea: build an elevator along all  lanes of  Busway to compete the free-traffic-jam train. Lol.
