The king of the street!

Jakarta traffic jam! Just enjoy it.

Go, go, go, be the fastest! You're mobile, much work to do today. It's Jakarta, you know what to do with life. You are accustomed to such a condition. You must survive! My cynical friend once yelled at me, "Ini Jakarta, bung!"

Home! Thanks God, you're save. There are hundred thousands of speed demons you have to outdo every working day, that's not a big deal, it is? And while you're having dinner and watching TV at home later on, the noisy and hectic trips have been going out there.

Your life depends on the speed on the road. You know the traffic jams which often continue through the day and distress you. For an extreme case, traveling even short distances can take hours and some parts of the city are in a constant state of jam.

Riding motorcycle might be much better than taking public transports which are popularly poor and worn out, even recent initiatives such as a trans-Jakarta bus lane are inefficient and even contribute to the problem by clogging intersections and reducing road space while moving comparatively small numbers of people.

Keep speeding ....

No Police, Go Ahead!

Being mobile in Jakarta you need to be a speed demond on the road. And if you are an impatient man you can create your own rule--even the patient one can't stand the rule.

The streets belong to everyone and to you as well, so you can use your exclusive authority there in order to get fast to your destination, even if you need to seize pedestrian's right.

The police are nowhere even when you can see them managing the traffic. But surely, they cannot do much to solve the congestion problems, outnumbered and outdone by the wild population.

Motorcylists are the kings on most of the roads and cars and other vehicles need to obey this unwritten statement unless they want to create another problem in the wild jungle of Jakarta's street. What you see in this picture, the impatient motorists at the traffic light, is a common view anywhere throughout Jakarta. Spontaneous! When there's a chance to go ahead, they'll just do it.

Keep up with Jakarta mobile for more candid photos everyone.
