Jakarta Bus Way, Is it really an exclusive lane?

The fact is every space belongs to anybody on the street regardless of what is considered exclusiveness. the separator is only an ornament to depict a typical city landscape. So the rule is put somewhere in the air.

What is so called Busway in Jakarta functions only when people have already come to their senses. The hectic condition makes it a short cut for speed demon, kings of the street like Kopaja and Metro Mini (city buses) and motorcycles to show off their talent.

Lucky you to be just in time getting on the bus and getting to your destination and continuing to another spot without paying back. However, Jakarta bus way gives you an uncertainty due to the unpredictable traffic before one bus reaches the shelter at where you are standing there waiting in line impatiently.

The idea of setting the lane heading the opposite direction will create another problem. Not only the Jakarta Busway gets more and more motorists to hate it, but also upsets the protesters or demonstrators to rally on the lane hiring a bus to reach the official office.

Jakarta needs more commuter train tracks or what has been waiting for: MRT. Bus way turns out to be not effective enough to solve the problem of traffic jam in Jakarta, unless the lane is carpeted with the one belonging to Aladdin jinn, and that doesn't make sense.

Bus Driver, another king of the street!

Will people support the Jakarta administration’s policy to limit the use of private vehicles? Will people shift to public transportation, say like Kopaja or Metromini? Chairman of PT Koperasi Angkutan Jakarta (Kopaja), Nanang Basuki, said that the company started to improve services last year in order to attract motorists.

Based on a survey regarding passenger satisfaction, they were mostly satisfied with the service but not with the bus’ travel times (The Jakarta Post). A new transport system is recently introduced: the integrated bus network (APTB) feeder system. In the system, the APTB buses are allowed to get in the Transjakarta Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) exclusive lane and share bus stops. In the near future, the city administration could include public minibuses such as Kopaja and Metromini in the APTB.

Well, just wait and see. So far that we know here, Bus Drivers mainly of Kopaja and Metro mini are governors of the street and their conductors are the bravehearts to create a great stunt show on the street by blocking other vehicles for passengers. Don't get offended when they innocently bluff you for slowing down their operation or transferring you to another bus due to a traffic jam's problem or just want to turn back to get more passengers.

"It's jakarta, man!" My cynical friend likes this yell.
